Preamble
“Every forest gets the leaders it deserves.”
Perhaps every fictional universe also gets the people it deserves.
No world is built by a single pair of hands. Along the way come those who recognise its possibilities before most others do and, in their own way, help it become larger than it once was.
The Firecurl Apostles are those people.
This Charter exists to preserve the memory of their contribution.
1. The Firecurl Apostles
The Firecurl Apostles are the first custodians of the Firecurl universe.
They are neither a fan club nor an official organisation. They are people whose work, ideas or encouragement have helped shape this world and whose contribution has become part of its history.
The title of Apostle recognises contribution alone.
2. Membership
Membership in the Firecurl Apostles cannot be requested or sought. Firecurl Apostles are appointed by the Keeper of the Charter, either on the Keeper’s own initiative or upon the recommendation of an existing Apostle. The decision to appoint a new Apostle rests with the Keeper of the Charter.
It is conferred in recognition of a meaningful contribution to the Firecurl universe.
The forms of contribution will naturally evolve over time. They may include artistic, literary, technical or intellectual work, outstanding contributions to the Firecurl universe, or achievements that cannot yet be foreseen. The form is secondary. What matters is that every Apostle has enlarged the Firecurl universe in a way that others can recognise.
3. Remembrance
The Fellowship of the Firecurl Apostles shall remain intentionally limited.
Its purpose is not exclusivity, but remembrance. The Fellowship should never become so large that its members cease to be remembered as individuals. As the Firecurl universe grows and changes, those who helped shape it should always remain visible.
4. The Apostle Number
Each Apostle receives a personal number.
Once bestowed, that number becomes part of the permanent history of the Firecurl universe. It shall never be reassigned, nor shall it disappear from the Register.
History is preserved. It is not revised.
5. The Certificate of Merit
Each Apostle receives a signed and numbered Certificate of Merit.
The certificate is neither a prize nor a decoration. It is a lasting acknowledgement that its holder has helped build the Firecurl universe.
6. The Register
The Firecurl Apostles are recorded in a permanent public Register.
Each entry contains only the Apostle’s name, or chosen alias, country, and Apostle number.
The Register exists so that the beginnings of the Firecurl universe may never be lost to time.
7. Independence
No Apostle owes loyalty to the author, the books, or to any other Apostle.
Membership confers neither obligation nor privilege. Every Apostle remains entirely free to praise, to criticise, to disagree or to remain silent.
Contribution is honoured. Conformity is not expected.
8. Legacy
Every enduring world begins as an improbable idea sustained by a small number of people.
The purpose of the Firecurl Apostles is to preserve the memory of those people.
Whatever future awaits the Firecurl universe belongs to generations yet to come. The Charter concerns only its beginnings, and those who chose to help build them.
